John Marshall is
a London born singer, composer and arranger and is famous as Jazz and Blues
guitarist. For many years he was the sideman for some of the greatest musicians
in Jazz and Blues. Names: ARETHA FRANKLIN, BEN E. KING, ROSA KING, ARTHUR
CONLEY, DINAH WASHINGTON, STEPPIN' OUT, CHET BAKER, GROVER WASHINGTON,
JOE COCKER and RAY CHARLES. He was their arranger and bandleader and much
more.
In Germany John works a great deal for television (WDR), for instance
in the series 'Let's Swing' with Ray Charles, Slide Hampton, Carmel Jones,
Wilton Gaynair, Sal Nistico and others.
He also participated in the 'Rock 'n Blues Circus' with Chris Farlowe,
John Lord, Brian Auger, Pete York, Jeff Reynolds and Colin Hodgkinson.
John C. Marshall has made many recordings. His latest musical appearances
are on two Cd's for Shuttle Music in Germany and on the CD 'Nothing
to be afraid of' with Herbert Noord's Advanced Warning'.
With the latter band he was very succesful in the Amsterdam Blues Festival
in the Meervaart and the Mecca Jazz Festival in Maastricht. They also toured
in Germany and Switserland.
John Marshall played at the North Sea Jazz Festival 1991 in the Hague
with his own band and with Herbert Noord's 'Advanced Warning'.
In 1992 he had a very succesful year with a major hit in Japan with
the song "G'venor".
John was heard in 1993 as a guest soloist with the RTL 4 Television
Big Band and he is to be heard singing and playing on the Advanced Warning CD,
'Watch Out for The Jazzpolice' which was released in the beginning
of June 1994.
In 1994 John made several CD's, 'Black Jack' with Bobby Gaynair
to mention one and played with the RTL Big Band as a soloist.
With this band he also made a very successful CD.
In 1995 John continued his playing with Advanced Warning and the RTL
Bigband.
In 1996 he made'Cut the Crap' and in 1997 'Hot Mosquito Night' with Advanced Warning
and toured with Herbert Noord in Norway. John also recorded a new CD with ex-Ellington
trombone player Steve Galloway. Nowadays he's also busy with Pia Blues, a project round Swedish singer Pia.
